Now you also have the additional benefit of being able to fine control individual lights in a room. I'm pretty sure this is how you are meant to control it. Such as "The Bedroom", or "Bedroom 1", etc.) Then after set-up and a restart, ask google to turn on all of the lights in ethan's room. Careful, name it light instead of lights. Then add each individual light in Ethan's room to that room and name it something like: ceiling light, bedside light, ambient light, etc. I'm not sure if you can name it Ethan's room or maybe it needs to be like "bedroom 2", or just "the bedroom". If you want, could you try renaming Ethan's lights into:įirst make a room in google home that Ethan's room should be. Here is a screen shot of the google home activity - One example with these lights linked, another with them unlinked and still doing it!!! To make things stranger, even with the 'Smart Life' lights unlinked from google home (and IFTTT working), saying "turn on/off etha/ryan's lights" still turns on/off EVERY LIGHT! If I add the lights via IFTTT using completely different trigger words, IFTTT successfully turns the lights on and off. I have tried renaming the devices, setting nick names, nothing seems to work. Whenever I ask to turn on or off these devices, it turns on/off ALL lights in the house. They are assigned to 'Ethan's Room' and 'Ryan's Room' respectively. The devices are named 'Ethan's Lights' and 'Ryan's Lights'. I added two additional lights to my setup, both via the 'smart life' app. These are a combination of Wemo and Z-wave lights. these all work fine, "hey google turn on/off the kitchen lights".

All are associated with the room they are in - kitchen, family room, bedroom, etc. I have a large number of lights in my home controlled by Google home.
